Chief Government Whip Prasanna Ranatunga announced in Parliament today that a sum of Rs. 220 million has been disbursed to the families of individuals who tragically lost their lives in the Easter Sunday bomb attacks.

In response to an inquiry by MP Mayantha Dissanayake, the Minister underscored the government’s steadfast commitment to aiding and supporting those affected by the devastating events.

Beyond monetary assistance, a noteworthy initiative has been introduced: a scholarship scheme designed to benefit the children of the Easter Sunday bomb victims. Minister Ranatunga detailed that a significant allocation of one million rupees has been earmarked for monthly assistance to the children, with beneficiaries recommended by ‘Seth Sarana,’ the social service arm of the Sri Lankan Catholic church.

The Minister placed specific emphasis on extending support to the family members of those who lost their lives in the bomb attack on the Zion church in Batticloa.
