Sri Lankan Baker Tharshan Selvarajah to carry Olympic torch

As the Olympic flame arrives in France from Greece, anticipation builds for the torch relay involving 10,000 individuals, ranging from ordinary citizens to VIPs.

Among them is Tharshan Selvarajah, a Paris-based baker originally from Sri Lanka.

Since he arrived in 2006, Tharshan’s journey has seen him transition from a cook to working in a bakery, and now running his establishment.

Renowned for his exceptional baguettes, which earned him the prestigious title of the best Parisian baguette in 2023.

Tharshan makes history as the first Sri Lankan torchbearer in the Olympic Games.
