Sri Lankan Cricket team faced with Visa delays.

Sri Lanka’s cricket team faces a last-minute hurdle as two key players, Kusal Mendis and Asitha Fernando, are yet to receive their visas for travel to the United States for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.

The rest of the squad departed this morning for New York via Dubai, but Mendis and Fernando were unable to join them due to the visa delay.

According to reports, the two cricketers are expected to receive their visas soon from the US embassy in Colombo and will travel to the US as they are issued. This delay will not significantly impact their participation in the World Cup, but it may disrupt their training schedule leading up to the tournament.

“The US Embassy in Colombo has assured us that they will issue the visas as soon as possible and they have been very helpful in securing these visas in a very short period of time,” Sri Lankan Sports Minister Harin Fernando told NewsWire.

Sri Lanka Cricket has not yet officially commented on the situation. The team is expected to hold a training camp in the US before the World Cup begins on June 01, 2024.
