Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu Clinches ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year 2023

Sri Lankan women’s cricket sensation Chamari Athapaththu has been named the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year for 2023. Athapaththu’s extraordinary performance with the bat and her inspirational leadership as captain have been central to her recognition at the ICC Awards.

Her pivotal role in leading Sri Lanka to a historic bilateral series victory over New Zealand has not only highlighted her individual brilliance but also underscored her contribution to elevating the profile of women’s cricket globally. “I have big dreams, I achieved that dream. So I’m happy. You know sometimes the level up is about improving and not impressing. SO I want to keep doing my best for my country, all the time. I have a lot of good achievements but this one is important for my life and my cricket career” she said accepting the award.
