News Today: Former MP Sujeewa Senasinghe Hands Over Vehicle for Supreme Court Investigation
Former Member of Parliament Sujeewa Senasinghe, who currently serves as the National Organiser for Samagi Jana Sandanaya (SJS), announced that he has handed over his vehicle to the Supreme Court for additional investigations. Senasinghe explained that this decision followed a request from the government’s anti-corruption unit, which informed the court that further examination of the vehicle was necessary and that a report from the Toyota Company would be required.
In a statement to Legacy Daily, Senasinghe remarked, “This is nothing but political victimisation. The Government Analyst already cleared my vehicle last week, but authorities are still insisting on another probe.” He expressed concerns that the extended investigation could be politically motivated, despite clearance from official channels.
This development reflects ongoing political and legal challenges faced by Senasinghe, as the anti-corruption unit continues to scrutinize high-profile individuals under its mandate. The outcome of the investigation and Toyota’s report could be pivotal in resolving the matter.
