News Today: Udaya Gammanpila Given Three Days to Submit Report

The government has issued a three-day ultimatum to Pivithuru Hela Urumaya Leader Udaya Gammanpila to hand over the report on the Easter Sunday terror attack investigations that he claims to have in his possession. During a media briefing, Gammanpila warned that if the government does not reveal the S.I. Imam and A.N.J. de Alwis reports—compiled by the two Presidential Investigation Commissions but not made public—he will release the information himself after a seven-day deadline.

In response, Minister Vijitha Herath urged Gammanpila to submit any reports he has within three days, emphasizing that this would facilitate the government’s efforts. “If Gammanpila possesses a report, submitting it would make things easier for us,” the Minister said.

Herath also stressed the importance of investigating how Gammanpila obtained the report and the potential consequences of withholding such crucial information. He reiterated that all government-held reports on the Easter Sunday attacks would be thoroughly reviewed to ensure there are no missing pages or overlooked details.

Minister Herath further warned that if Gammanpila has been concealing the report, it could be considered a serious offence. “We need to understand how he came into possession of this report and why it has been kept hidden,” he concluded.
