Vehicle Assembly Factory Opens in Kuliapitiya
News Today: Vehicle assembly factory opens in Kuliapitiya
A state-of-the-art vehicle assembly factory was inaugurated yesterday in Kuliapitiya under the patronage of President Ranil Wickremesinghe. The facility, known as Western Auto Mobile Assembly Private Limited, is set to revolutionize the local automobile industry by fostering job creation and skill development.
The foundation stone for this cutting-edge factory was laid back in 2017, following an agreement signed with the Sri Lanka Board of Investment in August 2015. The factory is part of a larger effort to modernize Sri Lanka’s industrial sector and create opportunities for sustainable growth.
According to the President’s Media Division, the factory will provide employment opportunities, particularly for the country’s youth, by equipping them with the essential skills needed to contribute to the country’s long-term prosperity. This initiative is seen as a significant step toward reducing unemployment and developing the technical expertise required for future industrial growth.
President Wickremesinghe emphasized the importance of initiatives like these, which aim to strengthen the nation’s economy and offer promising career paths for the younger generation. The vehicle assembly factory is expected to be a cornerstone of innovation and manufacturing for years to come.
