The Strategic Workshop on Digital Government Transformation, held in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy and ICTA, brought together key stakeholders from 17 institutions under the Ministry of Transport, Ports, and Aviation. This full-day capacity-building session served as a pivotal step toward accelerating Sri Lanka’s national digital transformation efforts and enhancing public sector service delivery.
The workshop opened with a keynote address by Prof. Kapila Perera, who outlined the Objectives and Importance of the Programme. Leveraging his expertise in institutional development, he emphasized the importance of strategic alignment and stakeholder coordination for successful digital transformation.
Next, Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya led a compelling session on crafting a Digital Blueprint and Planning Future IT Systems. His talk focused on building resilient and citizen-centric digital services through well-structured planning and architecture.
Dr. Srinath Perera, a pioneer in AI and data science, presented innovative use cases of AI in government services. His session on the GIC AI Architecture showcased how AI can support intelligent governance and policy-making.
On the technical integration front, Dr. Manodha Gamage explored Process MSI, MSP, BO, and PMBA—frameworks that ensure seamless integration of business goals with IT capabilities.
Mr. Bandula Ranathunga wrapped up the technical presentations with an overview of the Government Stack covering HR, ERP, CRM, and Finance. He emphasized the benefits of integrated backend systems for improved governance, efficiency, and transparency.
The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion and networking session, allowing attendees to share insights and strengthen inter-agency collaboration.
